Message more you screwup the ignition timing. Since you are offsetting the MAS voltage to get the A/F correct and the system uses the MAS voltage to calculate what load you are running, when you screw with the MAS voltage you are making the ECU think a different load band is being used and then it starts jumping around in the timing map and the timing goes all nutty.
